A place with a stunning view of the ocean, an old fishermen's village you must visit, having a lunch and enjoying the cool breeze that comes from the sea
One of most traditional fishing villages in Portugal. Location of Macnamarra's surfing record. Worth a visit!
Nazaré beach, with its mild climate and natural beauty, has one of the most ancient traditions connected to fishing in Portugal. The long sandy half-moon shaped beach, which is also the town’s sea front, is known for its grandeur and for the brightly-coloured awnings that decorate the white sandy beaches, contrasting with the blue of the water. This is the beach in Portugal that retains the more colourful fishing traditions, and it’s not uncommon to encounter fishmongers who still wear the traditional seven skirts.
Nazaré is a fisherman's village , known in the past for women ( fisherman's wives) using 7 skirts ( you can still see some of them, however not sure if they're still 7 skirts). Nowadays is looked by surfers due to its 30 meter waves at Praia do Norte. The town itself is not so interesting, only worth for the beach and the wide variety of fish restaurants.
