Nothing works
It wasn’t the only thing that didn’t work. The usb charger in the room was broken. The TV picture was intermittent and kept breaking up. The bath plug mechanism came off in my hand. The shower bath combo tap refused to work the bath tap. You can’t use the toiletries when you’re eventually in the bath as they are nailed to the wall at shower head height.
I did have a good night’s sleep though.

I sincerely apologise for the delays during your check-in process, as well as the inconvenience caused by the key not working and the issues with your room. It is concerning to hear about the broken USB charger, intermittent TV picture, bath plug mechanism, and the shower tap not functioning correctly. These are certainly not the conditions we aim to provide our guests, and I will ensure that our maintenance team addresses these issues immediately.
On a positive note, I am glad to hear you were able to have a good night’s sleep despite the challenges you faced.

Great in some respects but not truly a 5 star.
First the positives:
Location is amazing with a 4 minute walk to Moorgate station, plenty of good restaurants around and on an easy route for uber use and pick up.
Breakfast is not only great quality produce but freshly produced.
Staff are polite and knowledgeable throughout.
Areas that need improvement:
The rooms are dated and many items within are either broken or below standard. We had 4 rooms across our large party. All different sizes including a standard double, family room etc.
Air con units out of order and flashing with maintenance signs when turned on (room 614)
Taps that come off in your hands (room 614)
Shower gel dispensers that are not only empty on check in (how does this even happen?) but then come off in your hands (room 601)
Also, deciding to paint the hallways during a near full occupancy week seems odd. Trays of paint left out all day and night to the point where us and fellow guests complained of headaches from paint fumes. Very odd decision from the management here.
Overall, a real shame that the foundation of this hotels success is let down by rooms that don’t meet expectations when laying this much for a stay in central London.
