Ljubljana is beautiful and everything is so close together, it is easy to explore and still preserves its own unique culture.
What's not to love about Ljubljana? The Slovenian capital has little in the way of name recognition and boasts no must-see sights, but still manages to charm. How's that? With its pretty old town, lovely riverside, relatively low prices, laid-back vibe and superb collection of bars, restaurants and cafes, it's an incredibly pleasant to simply hang out. Chill out with a coffee at the riverside, take an amble thru Ljubljana Castle, then stroll up to the top of Tivoli Park for some great views.
It's hard to put a finger on what made Ljubljana special for me. It could be the walkability and the fact that everything seems so close at hand. It could be that the buildings look so pretty and elegant and it makes you feel fancy. It could be that the food was fantastic and decently priced so I could "splurge" every day. I didn't go to any museums or what I would usually do. But rather just wandered. In total, I was there for 5 days but it didn't seem that long. It's the kind of city you can feel very comfortable in right away. Slovenian people were very friendly and I would not hesitate to come back soon.
Ljubljana is an incredibly charming European city. I took a walking tour and loved it.
