We had a little trouble checking in but after that it was wonderful. This is a boutique hotel in an old building full of charm. It has a breakfast room downstairs with stone walls. It's really beautiful. Eric was one of the people at the desk who helped us. He could not have been more personable, professional and just very friendly. He made up for any issues we had checking in.

Avoid if you Value Your Safety and Sleep
We had a very disappointing and unsettling stay at The Originals Montmartre. The streets directly outside the hotel are completely covered by an African flea market. During our stay, we witnessed a police presence, with officers carrying pepper spray attempting to move the crowds on, but they were vastly outnumbered and only managed to disperse people temporarily for about 20 minutes. It did not feel safe at all.
The hotel advertises “soundproof” rooms — this is absolutely not the case. We could clearly hear noise from the street below, guests chatting, and movement throughout the hotel at all hours. Sleep was very difficult.
At check-in, we were also asked for a refundable deposit per night, which had not been made clear at the time of booking.
As two female travelers (mother and daughter), we felt extremely intimidated, vulnerable, and unsafe during our stay. Walking to and from the more touristy areas like Sacré-Cœur Basilica felt dangerous — the streets are unlit, strewn with litter, occupied by rough sleepers, and very rundown. I would strongly recommend booking an Uber rather than attempting the walk, especially after dark.
Overall, we would not stay here again and would advise others to look for accommodation in a safer and more comfortable part of Paris.

Very horrible hotel for black female travellers.
I stayed at the Originals with my friend for 3 nights, then another 2 nights. We pre-booked and paid for the 3 nights in FULL before arrival.
Upon arrival, we were charged a deposit of €150 Euros which was explained to be a security deposit to be returned after checkout.I had no issues with that and focused on exploring Paris.
There was a day my room wasn’t cleaned and I complained to a mixed lady at the hotel reception politely to inform the cleaner and she condescendingly looked at me and blurted “I’m not the cleaner”. I never asked her to be one, I only informed her so she can tell the cleaners to make a stop at my room and refill the shower gel, replace soap and toilet paper.
The day I checked out, I missed my flight due to the Paris traffic and had to reschedule my flight to the next available date which was in 48 hours which meant I needs to stay in Paris for another 2 nights. I headed back to the hotel.
I don’t know why but our cards refused to work despite being funded. We had some Euros cash left in cash and paid for one extra night.
The next day, we asked to extend but our cards wouldn’t work. We informed them that we needed to get some sleep but would try an ATM or go to a BDC to change some Dollars.
In between, the cleaner came to the room and yanked off our key card cutting off the light supply, we were barraged with calls from the reception threatening that security was going to escort us out of the room.
It’s wild because most of their staff is black and yet they treated us like shit.
We saw how white guests were treated and black guests and the difference was clear.
Maybe they had an assumption and became discriminatory towards us.
Note that 4 nights out of 5 was already paid in FULL and they had a security deposit of over 200 Euros with them.
We had to abandon everything and rush to an ATM to withdraw more cash💰 to pay for the final day.
Let’s not get into the fact that one of their staff JEJOMAR almost tried to be sexual with me.
I got into the elevator to go and get water at the restaurant on the 8th floor, he kept looking at my boobs and made suggestive comments about wanting to spend the night with me. He also insisted on a hug.
I cried from the experience of that hotel and very horrified. As a travel content creator, I will document my experience with videos when I’m back home and share YouTube videos. If you’re a Nigerian or black woman, please avoid THE ORIGINALS. I was excited to be here but it turned into a nightmare.
As a business owner myself and CEO of 3 thriving companies, I saw some many lapses in their customer service. The entire place needs a staff overhaul.

Lovely hotel on outside of Paris
Lovely hotel in the wrong area but it’s okay nothing to worry about Just people living on the streets outside in the underpass it can be avoided though we actually never went through that part, it’s a tad on the outside of Paris about a 35 Minute walk to the shops maybe a tad longer. Hotel itself is safe and very nice. Would recommend as we never had any issues

Hen Do
Room had everything we needed, basic and clean - our priority was getting out and exploring. Staff were great, I know people have said they were ‘uninterested’ but actually I think they’re just straight to the point. We found them friendly and we didn’t want any particular fuss, again, we wanted to get out and see the city. I’ve been to Paris 4 times before, perhaps if this was my first visit I may have stayed closer to the centre. There is a market selling secondhand goods, which can feel intimidating to some, but this is easy to avoid. We walked through it and it was fine though. Roof top bar is lovely, worth a visit.
