Transformată dintr-o fermă din secolul al XVIII-lea, Battlesteads este un han elegant de la țară, cu camere cu baie proprie și un restaurant cu 80 de locuri. Este situat într-o zonă rurală frumoasă, aproape de Zidul Roman.

Should get 5 stars, but..Inside No9
Perfect location, We booked as visiting the on site Observatory...A must if you stay. The food is exceptional if you book elsewhere come for dinner anyway. Food 5 Star, staff are lovely if not a little elusive from time to time. Rooms have all you need. When you book ask yourself if you're ok going to bed after 11pm and are an early riser...if not, dont book Room 9. This has the flu from the kitchen generator attached to the outer wall and sounds like a car is running its engine next to your room, turns off around 11 and woke us around 7am. After a 3 hour drive an early night or a lay in was needed but neither available.
Staff were accommodating and we moved rooms. The 2nd room was lovely but on the road and whilst a quite village its is an A road so we closed the window making the room too hot. Air conditioning may be a consideration for the future.

This hotel is a real find.
We stayed here on our way home from the highlands. If travelling by motorcycle the entrance is a tight turn into the car park and the first part of the car park is on an incline, so thought needs to be given to how you park the bike. There is a further car park at the back which is much flatter. But don’t let the car park on an incline put you off, this hotel is a real find and well worth it.
From the outset, the staff were amazing, very attentive, friendly and willing to help.
Our room had everything we needed, it was clean and had plenty of space for us. There was a lovely touch of a fruit bowl and fresh fruit which I have not had before in a hotel room. This was in addition to the coffees teas, hot chocolate etc.
The bar was well stocked with some very good ales and as the weather was so good during our day we enjoyed several whilst utilising their lovely garden.
We ate in the restaurant for both the evening meal and for breakfast.
The food is first class as is the service.
The building obviously has a lot of history and there was a notice board in reception that listed the wildlife seen recently in the local area. Whilst we were sipping our beers in the garden we were treated to a sparrowhawk take down a pigeon- wow!
I can definitely recommend The Battlestead hotel and hope to return soon

Great food, great stay. Just fab!
We picked Battlesteads on it fitting our criteria for dog friendly and having an EV charger in a last minute birthday night away. It ticked those boxes brilliantly. Easy charging and Merlin was right at home, and he's a fussy devil. The food was absolutely excellent and it was lovely having produce that was grown in the hotel's garden. We loved our one night and we have already recommended it to friends as a place to stay when visiting their daughter at Newcastle University. We'll be back soon too.

We really enjoyed our stay for two nights at Battlesteads. Two things really stood out - the food was excellent (except chips - a minor thing), and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming without being overbearing.
The last point, about how all staff were nice to interact with, was a major selling point and is why we will return. A special shout out to Dan ("Dan, Dan, the beverage man") for being so helpful and recommending Flyte - a top tip! Ad Gefrin sold two bottles to us as a result!
Such a pleasant time, great food, and drink, and an impressive walking guide (which we used) and an observatory on the door step!

Fantastic hotel
Fantastic hotel, great staff, great food. Most of the food grown on the premises. Beautiful gardens Dog friendly great atmosphere in the conservatory outside area. Met one of the chefs who gave us tour of the garden polytunnels etc. The ethos behind the hotel is genuine. All the staff seem on board with the principles cannot fault, would recommend to anyone.
